Why Use Application Virtualization?

How Does Application Virtualization Work?

In a traditional setup, business software is installed directly on each computer. Every installation may require separate configuration, updates, troubleshooting, and compatibility checks. Application virtualization changes this arrangement by placing compatible applications within a centrally managed delivery environment.

Users connect to the virtualized application through an approved device and access method. Depending on the selected platform, the application may appear to run like locally installed software even though its processing and management take place within the central environment.

This is different from a complete cloud desktop. A cloud desktop provides users with an entire desktop environment, including an operating system, settings, and multiple applications. Application virtualization focuses on delivering individual applications without necessarily providing a complete virtual desktop.

It is also distinct from Application Hosting Services. Hosting provides the infrastructure where an application operates, while application virtualization focuses on how that application is delivered to authorized users. In some projects, hosting and virtualization may work together as parts of the same solution.

What Applications Can Be Virtualized?

How Is Virtual Application Delivery Planned and Tested?
